L STREET TAVERN, THE ABBEY IN FINALS

As the four time defending champion swept through their playoff opponents, the Abbey also were having little trouble in reaching the finals. The Tavern defeated the Flaherty Club 4-1 to sweep the series while the Abbey needed one more game to finish off the Sidewalk Cafe 18-9 in game four.

At press time the series was scheduled to start on Tuesdsay, Sept 6th. Game three is scheduled for tonight at 7:30 pm. This could be a pivotol game in the series so don't miss out!

Many league observers believe the deck is stacked high against the Abbey. Some have even said the series is going to be a clean sweep for L Street. How can they be so sure? They must know the fact that the L Street Tavern has not lost a game to the Abbey in three years. Even more, they have outscored the Abbey 70-12 in that span. So what's going to change? Come to the park and see for yourself. Below is a list of the players and what each one of them bring to their team:

L Street Tavern (26-4) - Four time (consecutive) defending champions
P - Paul Alessi - possible the key to the series. Best pitcher in the league. Tremendous at changing speeds of his pitches.
1B - Jimmy Burgio - good defense and power hitting are Jimmy's trademark.
2B - Rob Wright - excellent at turning double plays.
3B - Ed Toland - great hitter, good defensively. Another table setter in the lineup.
SS - Tony Jiminez - good hitter, average shortstop. Tony contributes to his team with key hits.
LF - Jamie Mastro - rookie with blazing speed. A table setter at the top of the order.
CF - Marty Jiminez - the most productive hitter on the team. Tracks down most balls hit into his area.
RF - Kevin Turner - one of the most underated players in the league. A line drive hitter with power.
Bench - Paul Turner, Jack Feeney, Dave Litif, Tom Reardon, and Angie LaPaglia are experienced players that can contribute to th eteam when called upon.

The Abbey (20-10) - first appearance in finals
P - Don Senna - crafty left handed pitcher who pitches to the corners effectively. A key to the Abbey's chances.
1B - Tommy Nelson - above average defensively, a clutch hitter, and a team player who is very competive.
2B - Steve Prokop - the newkid on the block is a solid defensive player and a singles type of hitter.
3B - Scott Grant - lightning speed, a table setter in the lineup, and average defensively.
SS - Jason O'Connell - the best shortstop in the league and one of the best players in the league. He is another key to the Abbey's chances.
LF - Bobby Dobay - lefty power hitter who is capable of playing good defense.
CF - Mark Senna - will have to pitch and win a game in the series. Ultra competitive.
RF - Mike Sibert - an above average singles hitter and an average fielder.
Bench - Donny Dean, Pat Ostiguy, Mike Linskey, Don F Senna, Danny LaMonica, and Leo Ballou. Very supportive players that can contribute when called upon.
