This past week the finals were held betwen Canavan's Pub and the YIP Club in a best of seven game series. Canavan's prevailed in winning four out of six games behind the fantastic pitching of Tommy 'Strikes' Greene. The batting stars for this championship team were led by Bob Gordon .571, Tom Sylvester .388, Greene .381, and Dick Quinn .368.

Greene and Tom 'The Glove' Gorham were named co-recipients of the MVP award. Jim Gorham was spectacular at the hot corner continually coming up with great plays.

This is the first year that the young kids from Canavan's, whose average age is 21, have played together but they have left a lasting impression on the rest of the league and will be tough to beat for years to come.

The players of both teams would like to thank the many spectators that attended the games. For further enjoyment this coming week Canavan's Pub will play the Boston Police all-stars at M Street Park, Sept. 14 at 7:30PM. All proceeds will go to the South Boston Heights Academy.

Support your town by attending this event. See you at the game!
