With the season off to an exciting start, M Street Softball teams are back in full swing. While some teams are entering the year stronger than others, each has its own strength and weaknesses, which will certainly make for an exciting season.

L Street Tavern (5-0), who are led by pitcher Paul Alessi, are back in championship form and are still undefeated, The Sidewalk Cafe is also off to a strong start (5-1) and are playing solid defense and getting timely hitting.

The surprise team of the year so far is Deeney O'Malley's (4-1). Some say they haven't been tested yet but their record speaks for itself. Last year's third place finisher, Footprints (4-2), are back and stronger than ever. With newly acquired pitcher John Gregorio, this team will contend for the top all year long. The Abbey (4-2), is also in the running. Shortstop, Jason O'Connell is providing the spark that this team needs in order to be a front running contender.

Challenged by many rainouts, the Gannon Club (2-2) is still trying to find the right lineup. Led by pitchers Jay Malley and Chris Burnell, this team will be tough to beat on any given night.

Dudley's Tavern (2-3) has room for improvment but should not be taken to lightly.Bay View Liquors (2-3), who are led by Jimmy McEvoy, can be also be a tough opponent. Their record will improve as the season rolls along. The Flaherty Club (1-5) is off to a slow start but has the talent to ovrcome their woes. Necomers, Shannon's Tavern (1-6) have played some good ballgames despite their record. Lastly, DJ Linnehans (0-5), who are led by captain Joe Itri, have yet to find their winning ways.
