The YIP Club conitinued their winning way in the National Leahue behind all-star pitcher Edso Foley backed by outstanding defense. The rest of the league is bunched up so close that any team has a good sopt at making the playoffs.

Rabbit Inn, led by former Southie High Star's Billy Curley, Billy Flynn, and Mark Bartosiak are keeping a slim hold on second place. Modern Market is starting to think more about playing softball and less about arguing with the umpires. Keep up the good work!

Jim Linehan, the new coach of Miller's Market, has taken a cellar dweller and has turned them into a strong contender. They have won their last three games easily.

Triple O's has recruited some good young players and if their pitching can hold up they might have a shot at the playoffs.

Old Towne Tavern started out with a bang but has slacked off lately. They came up with a good win last week over Power House Pub and may be on the right track again.

Jokers cannot seem to get their act together yet. Hopefully, with the return of Rick Jones and Kevin Griffin they can pull an ace out of the deck and sneak into the playoffs.

In the American League, Canavan's Pub rolls on and old timer shortstop Bob Gordon still continues to hit well as he won two out of the last three games with his bat. Jimmy Gorham, who underwent successful knee surgery two weeks ago, is in terrific spirits and will help the team out on the sidelines with his enthusiasm.

Quiet Man Pub follows in second place with Ricky Cregg, Bob Hartigan, and John Shannon playing good ball. Leo Kelly like Jimmy Linehan, has taken My Town Tavern from a last place team and molded them into a good squad. They won back to back games over Quit Man and Kelly's Pub last week.

Tom Keefe, Dickie Sminkus, and Pat Ronca have kept the hard hitting Murphy Shockers right in the thick of the race. No team is going to beat them without knowing they have been in a ballgame.

Kelly's Pub has played only a few games but with Mark and Jerry Etro in the outfield teams are not dying to play them. Coach Eddie Shaughnessey expects big things from the team and I fro one don't think the team will let him down.

Johnson's Bandits has started out very slowly but as outfielder Paul Carroll told me they have not yet begun to flex their muscles. Look for those Bandits to steal a playoff spot.

Jack Clougherty, in his first year as coach and DH of the Social Club, is having a tough time in trying to find the winning combination and we hope he finds it before it's too late.

All rainout games have been made up and if any team does not know when they are playing, they may pick up a schedule at John Cunniff Sporting Goods store.
