The Jim Kelly Club's three dramatic come from behind wins combined with the steady play of their first baseman Paul Davis is the leagues top story this week.

davis, of East Fifth Street, known more for his bear like strength and size, dazzled the fans and players by going 5-5 at the plate including a game winning bases clearing triple to defeat Molly Darcy's.

Mike Medico's Olde Time Hardware jumped to second place and made some noise by knocking off the Sidewalk Cafe, 3-2, behind a strong outing from pitcher Jim McNiff and a gutsy performance by shortstop Sal Russo.

Last Tuesday night a new team joined the league to take the #3 spot vacated on the schedule. The team is coached by Rile Rhodes and was immediately put to the test in facing the Sam Moran Club. The game quickly turned into a slugfest as the new kids scored six runs in the first inning to surprise the veteran Moran team. Moran would later rally and go ahead on Joey Magee's homer to left. But the kids weren't finished as they tied it in the seventh on a sac fly by Rhodes. The game ended in a tie and will be completed on July 16. The new team is seaking a sponsor and will be renamed when one is found.

Brian Yanovitch's double to center scored Timmy Malley from first to end a hard fought game between the Seapoint Restaurant and the New Team. Seapoint had dropped two games earlier in the week and needed nine innings to avoid losing a third.

The Boston Beer Garden broke into the win column when they crushed the Corner Tvern 16-4.

The Old Harbor Club battled hard but came up short in two close games played last week. They remain winless at 0-4.

The Corner Tavern is getting plenty of production out of PJ Tedeschi, Mike Gregorio, and Rich Mahoney and are hoping their first win is just around the 'corner.'

Molly Darcy's Brian Linehan belted two more homers to double his lead over Jim Burgio in the homerun race.
