  • Teams are also required to pay one umpire $20 per game/$40 per doubleheader (due at game time).
  • Teams are required to wear matching/same color jerseys by the first game. Full uniforms (matching pants, socks, hats) are encouraged but not required.
  • Pitching rules...."open" modified rules. No windmill/overhand/sidearm deliveries.
  • Bunting or stealing is not allowed at this time but will be voted on before the start of each season.
  • Season begins the week of May 1st.
  • Teams will play a 14-18 game schedule (one doubleheader per week).

PLAYERS LOOKING TO JOIN
Serving as the league commissioner and webmaster of this site, individual players looking to be placed on a team for the upcoming season often contact me. Most of them have just moved to the area and are looking for a league to join. In the past, my placement rate has been about 50/50 - which is not great. The reason why the rate is not 100% is because many, if not all of the teams are friends who have been playing together for years and want to keep it that way. Most of them would rather have a familiar face of lesser skills on their roster than a gold glover who just moved to the Boston area.

As commissioner of the league, that puts me in an awkward position as I am always looking for ways to improve league play and to give interested players an equal opportunity to participate in a competitive city of Boston league. It is my belief that skilled players make competitive teams and improve overall league play. With that said, if you think you have the skills to compete in a fast pitch league then I will work with you in finding a team for the upcoming season. Sounds good, sign me up!!

M STREET SOUNDS TOO COMPETITIVE
M Street Softball does not want to steer any potential team or player away from joining our league. We suggest you consider our league first. However, if you are looking to have more fun in a laid back league where winning isn't everything then M Street is probably not for you. We suggest checking out the Boston Ski and Sport's Club leagues (www.bssc.com). Another source of information is the Boston Herald and Boston Globe - both print league and tournament notices/openings on Sunday's.
