Just a quick thank you to an unsung hero in the South Boston community. His name is Mark Senna and he has singe handedly brought the M Street Softball League back, close to where it was in the 1970's and 1980's.

We remember going as kids and watching a very competitive, talent rich, league play in a jammed packed M Street Park. However, in the early 90's the league lost a lot of what it had. One big reason for the drop off was the lack of good solid pitching, and this is another aspect of Mark's personal goals, which has improved the league. Mark was a long time positional player, but he knew the league was hurting for pitching depth so he practiced endless hours, both indoors in the winter time, and against the wall at M Street in the summer time to improve himself. Now he has become one of the finer pitchers in the league, and more importantly, he adds pitching depth to a most important position.

Off the field, his dedication and hard work for the league are unmatched. He can be found working the field when needed. People like Mark Senna, Kevin Lally, John Huron, Willy Wilson, and Mike Cappellano are the type of people this community desparetly needs. They put their time in unconditionally and provide the basic need for fun for a lot of people. Between the lines, Mark is as fierce a competior as you will find, which has helped him become one of the league's finer all around players. Outside the lines, he is a soft spoken gentelmen, eager to bring the league back to where it once was. He is an unsung hero and someone the sports community could use more of.
