SEASON UNDERWAY

Trades have been made, new teams have been entered, veterans have returned and the fans are starting to congregate. The warm weather is here and so is M Street Softball. The league kicked off its twenty-ninth season this past Tuesday under the lights at M Street. Thirteen teams make up a very competitive set of rosters this year and, if the first week is an indication of the kind of season we will have, it's bound to be an exciting one. Games are played every weeknight starting at 6:15 PM, 7:45, and 9:15. All are welcome to attend and we appreciate fan support.

On a disturbing note, double parking is still a problem on game nights. Recently, an M Street resident was spotted hauling her groceries for a block and a half because of the parking situation in front of her house. Other M Street residents have complained about this in the past and I have asked the coaches to inform players to park on East First Street. Some of you have abided to this request while others have chosen to ignore it. Players this is a serious matter and I'm asking you to lead by example and park on East First Street before you ruin it for everybody. The parking tickets and tow trucks are a phone call away!

Players and teams come and go every softball season. With six new teams entered, this season is no different. Often times, entire teams do not return to the league because the player/coach has decided he is fed up with the hassles of organizing a team. It is obvious that being a coach at this level is not easy and the rewards are far and few between. With that said, the league would like to recognize this year's coaches for their dedication and leadership. Sam Moran (twenty-nine years as player/coach), Mark Senna (six years), Billy Collins (five years), Brian Ahearn (three years), James McCarthy (three years), Sean Malone (two years), Michael Duffley (two years), Steve Rosemond (two years), Peter Hourihan, Pat Clifford, Jeff Scott, Sean Linell, and Tony Moran.

Lastly, an American Flag was anonymously donated and placed on the left field foul pole over the holiday weekend. Who ever is responsible for this, thank you! It looks great.
