As the league enters the fifth week of play, the mighty Moran Club is all alone at the top of the standings. The remaing teams are beginning to jockey for position as the league neters the halfway mark.

The Moran Club capped a perfect week off with a 16-4 win over Molly darcy's on Friday. Earlier in the week Moran flexed their muscles in a 21-1 romp over Rooney's. Theythen handled the Sidewalk Cafe with ease, 10-1. Firtsbaseman Jim Burgio collected his league leading fifth homerun of the season and is starting to pull away from the pack. Coach Joe Ronca, who was forced into a game recently, collected a hit and handled himself well at thirdbase.

The Sidealk Cafe had plenty of fun on Monday when they shutout the winless Corner Tavern 10-0. The Cafe boys rebounded from a loss to Moran and fended off the Beer Garden in a 12-10 win on Friday. Pat Egan hit the games second pitch over the fence in left for a homerun.

Seapoint Restaurant neded pitcher Jay Malley's five shutout innings to rebound from an early four run deficit to the Old Harbor Club. Seapoint's second game of the week was rained out and is rescheduled for July 28 at 6pm.

Olde Time Hardware defeated Rooney's 13-2 on Thursday night in their only game of the week. The Hardware boys are holding their own in fourth place.

Red Jack won their third in a row when they defeated Bay View 18-7 on Friday. John Silva collected his second dinger of the season when he homered to deep center in the third inning.

Jim Kelly Club has fallen on tough times lately as they lost their third in a row, 23-6 to the Beer Garden.

Bay View Liquor has alos found the going rough lately as they too have lost three in a row. The boys in blue experienced th eworse feeling when they were the first team to lose to the Old Harbor Club, a 9-8 loss on Thursday.

Molly Darcy's continued their five-hundred season when they split their two games last week. A 16-6 win against the Coner Tavern on Tuesday, was followed by a 16-4 loss to the Moran Club on Friday. Molly's is still hanging on to th elast playoff spot.

Boston Beer Garen are hot as they won their third game in a row 23-6 over the Kelly Club. Pitcher Tomy Shiner has taken over the reigns and is leading this club to the win column night after night. Mike smith continues to provide the big hits when called upon. The Beer Garden almost pulled off an upset when they led the Sidewalk Cafe by two runs late in the game. Sidewalk rallied for the win with some questionable calls going their way.

Rooneys is also in the midst of a lossing streak as theydropped their third straight to Olde Time on Thursday.

Old Harbor must have felt that hard work ould eventually pay off for them in the form of a win. It did. After losing 6-4 to a tough Seapoint team, Old Harbor got solid pitching from Ed Moses and good sound play all around as they snapped their eight game losing streak with a win over Bay View.

The Corner Tavern has yet to find the winning way as coach James Mccarthy has juggled his lineup in an attempt to find that elusive first win. Help could be on the way in the firm of David Mccarthy and Brian Joyce.

a special thanks goes out to Mike Medico of Olde Time Hardware for donating the yellow paint that was used to paint the foul pole in left field.
